Windfall by Box Collective

Reception: Saturday, May 28th from 6-9pm at the Craft & Folk Art Museum
May 29 - September 4, 2016

I've spent the last couple months settling into my new city of Philadelphia. I left L.A. on a 90° winter day and stepped off the plane to a teeth chattering 20° welcome. It has warmed up considerably since then but I am ready for some of California's incomparable sunshine! In a bit of exciting personal news, I will be a part of an exhibition at the Craft & Folk Art Museum called Windfall which opens Saturday, May 28th. I am going to be in L.A. for the opening and hope to see you there!

-Robert Apodaca

"Windfall" features new furniture and functional objects from members of the Los Angeles-based Box Collective, a group of designer-makers dedicated to creating innovative objects from reclaimed and sustainably sourced wood. The works in the exhibition were fabricated from trees that fell in northeastern Los Angeles during the historic windstorm of 2011. Ten members of the group will have works on display: Robert Apodaca, Casey Dzierlenga, Harold Greene, David Johnson, RH Lee & JD Sassaman, Samuel Moyer, Andrew Riiska, Stephan Roggenbuck, Cliff Spencer, and William Stranger.

This exhibition is supported in part by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles.
