Community in Blue

Spring greetings from Fifth Floor,

Dolly here! Fifth Floor has a special meaning to me because its namesake is where I spent countless hours at Otis College of Art & Design working in the architecture studio alongside Robert. It is also where I met so many talented artists and designers, including the long-time Fifth Floor contributor, Kristen Erickson. Kristen is an artist, designer, and teacher who also happens to have a solo show entitled "Community in Blue" coming up at The American Museum of Ceramic Art. Robert has long shown her work at Fifth Floor and we continue to carry her ceramics on the website and in Chinatown at the A.G. Geiger bookstore.

"Rendered in 231 ceramic bottle forms, "Community In Blue" is a quantitative diagram that represents the rapidly growing rate of homeless women in Pomona, CA. Each bottle will be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Emergency Fund for Our House, a shelter in Pomona that specifically houses women and their families." -Kristen Erickson

If you are in Southern California, don't miss Kristen's upcoming show, at The American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona on April 8th. The opening goes from 6:00 to 8:00pm with Kristen giving an artist talk at 6:30. I will be there and would love to introduce myself and chat with all Fifth Floor fans!

-Dolly
